It’s all part of growing that writer’s skin, you know? Moan about it–accept the pain, but then get past it. :) Once you get published, you have Reviews to deal with. (Ugh)

Ann Marie, exactly! And I think it can take a while to recognize just how much of a story is fish head. (I still write the occasional one, but I’m getting better at whacking them off…) :)

I’m watching people fret about writing exercises or cutting scenes. My previous analogy was that it’s like jogging–it’s not a race every time we lace up our sneakers, but every block we run makes us stronger for when Race Day does arrive.

*waving hi! from the FTHRW group*

Wow, have you nailed it on the head. Everything is subjective, and must be taken with careful consideration. But if a writer wants honest feedback… you’ve got to ‘cowboy up’ (I love that phrase, btw) and get on with it.

Awesome post!!

Speaking of contests I’m running a small one over at my blog and I encourage you to submit an entry if you are interested. Your readers are most welcome as well and I promise I am a benevolent judge.
