I recently read a book where the author contended in all seriousness that the standard size for hunting in the US was .50 caliber.
I’m not a purist. I don’t insist that the author include all the details of the size, operation, color, etc. of a gun. However, it is disconcerting when they talk about .33 caliber pistols, magazines and safeties for revolvers, multi-shot firearms in the 18th century, or a cloud of smoke from firing a modern firearm.
Like Texas geography, there are lots of resources to check your details or just leave them out. Just call it a little gun, go bang, and continue from there.
